Ever since the formation of the club in 1899 Shamrock Rovers have consistently made headlines, firstly as a junior team, and from 1922/23 onwards as continuous members of the Football League of Ireland.
With twenty-two League titles and twenty-six FAI Cup wins, the Hoops have achieved success after success and have enjoyed several memorable eras - each featuring some of the greatest players to have graced the League of Ireland.
The period 1987 to 2009 witnessed some low points in the history of this great club. From the loss of their traditional ground at Milltown to the battle to move to Tallaght, as well as a highly-publicised examinership process, there were times when th
e club’s fans could only look back at better times and wish for a return to the glory days.
The present-day Shamrock Rovers Football Club is living proof of what can be achieved by ordinary fans against all the odds and is a good model for other clubs in the country to follow.
As well as bringing the history up to date to the 2025 Double-winning season, the 3rd edition of the book introduces an extensive index adding a useful reference guide for the reader.
